Manage AddCal from any AI assistant with the MCP server
=======================================================

AddCal runs a Model Context Protocol server, so an AI assistant can work inside your account the way you would. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client over OAuth, with no API key to copy, and ask it in plain language to create events, preview recurring dates, read RSVPs and invites, pull engagement analytics or check plan usage. Everything happens as you, limited to your team.

 What you can do

 What syncs between MCP server and AddCal
-----------------------------------------

 Receives from MCP server

### Create and update events by asking

Describe the event, or paste an email about it, and the assistant creates it in the right calendar with timezone, location and recurrence handled.

 AddCal sends to MCP server

### Read RSVPs, invites and analytics

Ask who has responded, which invites are still open, or which calendar app your attendees use most, and get the answer from live data.

 Two-way with MCP server

### Preview recurring dates before committing

The assistant can expand a recurrence rule and show the dates it would create, so a fortnightly series lands on the right days.

### Guarded actions that email people

Sending an invite or recording an RSVP can email a real person, so those tools require explicit confirmation before they run.

 Setup

 How to connect MCP server to AddCal
------------------------------------

3 steps, no code unless a step shows some.

1. 1### Add the server to your client

    Point your MCP client at the AddCal endpoint. Cursor and VS Code have one-click install links on the documentation page; other clients take the URL in their MCP settings.

    ```
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "addcal": {
          "url": "https://addcal.co/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    ```
2. 2### Approve the connection in your browser

    The client registers itself and opens an AddCal sign-in. Approve it and it receives a token scoped to your team. Nothing is copied or pasted, and you can revoke it later under Settings, then API.

    [Open the setup guide ](https://addcal.co/documentation/mcp-server.md)
3. 3### Ask for something

    Start with a read-only request to see the tools in action, then let it create. The assistant explains when a feature is gated to a higher plan instead of retrying.

    ```
    "List my calendars and the next five events in each."
    "Create a monthly community call on the first Tuesday at 6pm Sydney time, on the Events calendar."
    "Who has RSVP'd yes to the launch party so far?"
    ```

 Use cases

MCP server and AddCal use cases
-------------------------------

### Events from an email thread

Paste the venue's confirmation into Claude and ask for the event. It lands in AddCal with the address and time parsed correctly.

### Weekly RSVP summary

Ask ChatGPT for the headcount and open questions across this week's events before the planning call.

### Bulk schedule changes

Move a whole series an hour later, or add a holiday exception, in one request instead of editing each occurrence.

### Developer workflows in Cursor or Claude Code

Create test events, inspect RSVP data and check analytics while building against the API, without leaving the editor.

 Good to know

MCP server integration limitations
-----------------------------------

### The assistant has your access, so connect from clients you trust

The token grants the same access you have across your team. Every action shows up in your account as normal, and you can revoke a client at any time from your API settings.

 What you need

Works on every plan, including Free.

 Add-to-calendar links and the REST API are free on every plan. The Zapier app and Smart Links start on Premium. Webhooks and Dynamic Links are on Business. [ Compare plans ](https://addcal.co/pricing.md)

 FAQ

MCP server and AddCal, answered
-------------------------------

### Do I need an API key?

No. Connecting uses OAuth: your client registers itself, you approve it in the browser, and it receives a token scoped to your team.

### Which assistants can connect?

Anything that speaks MCP over streamable HTTP: Claude Code, Claude Desktop and claude.ai, ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Goose and the JetBrains AI Assistant.

### Can it email people without me knowing?

Sending an invite or recording an RSVP can email someone, so those tools are marked destructive and ask for confirmation first. You can also ask for the confirmation email to be skipped.

### Does it cost extra?

No. The MCP server is included on every plan, and the tools respect whatever your plan already allows.

 Still have questions?
