Create add to calendar links from n8n workflows
===============================================

Connecting n8n to AddCal lets any workflow create an event and get back one add to calendar link per calendar app, ready for an email, Slack or SMS node. There is no community node to install: the HTTP Request node calls the AddCal REST API, and the Webhook node receives RSVPs. It works the same on n8n Cloud and self-hosted, and the API is on every plan, including Free.

 What you can do

 What syncs between n8n and AddCal
----------------------------------

 AddCal sends to n8n

### Create events from any trigger

A form submission, a CRM stage change, a new row in a sheet or a cron: one HTTP Request node turns it into an AddCal event with the title, time, timezone and location filled from the previous node.

 Receives from n8n

### One link per calendar app

The response carries public\_url plus a links object with google, apple, outlook, office365, yahoo and ics URLs, so the next node can put the right link in an email or message.

 Receives from n8n

### RSVPs back into the workflow

Point an AddCal webhook at an n8n Webhook node and every RSVP created, RSVP updated or calendar subscribed event arrives as JSON for routing, scoring or syncing to a CRM.

 AddCal sends to n8n

### Calendars found or created by name

Pass calendar\_name and AddCal finds or creates the calendar, so a workflow can file events under a client or a campaign without storing ids. Use calendar\_uid when you already have one.

 Setup

 How to connect n8n to AddCal
-----------------------------

4 steps, no code unless a step shows some.

1. 1### Create an API token and store it as an n8n credential

    In AddCal open API Tokens under your account settings, create a token and copy it once. In n8n create a Header Auth credential named Authorization with the value Bearer and your token, which keeps it out of exported workflow JSON.

    [Open API Tokens ](https://addcal.co/user/api-tokens)
2. 2### Add an HTTP Request node that posts the event

    Method POST, URL https://addcal.co/api/events, authentication Generic Credential Type then Header Auth, Send Body on as JSON. Anything in double braces is an n8n expression, so pull the values from the previous node. title, date\_start and date\_end are required.

    ```
    {
      "title": "{{ $json.title }}",
      "date_start": "{{ $json.start }}",
      "date_end": "{{ $json.end }}",
      "timezone": "Australia/Melbourne",
      "calendar_name": "Webinars",
      "location": "{{ $json.join_url }}",
      "description": "Agenda and dial-in details."
    }
    ```
3. 3### Use the links in the next node

    The response has public\_url for the event page and a links object with one URL per calendar app. Pass public\_url to an email, Slack or SMS node, or pick a specific calendar link. Add an IF node on the status code: a 409 means the account has reached its monthly event limit, and without the check the workflow fails quietly.

    ```
    {
      "public_url": "https://addcal.co/e/evt_ab12cd34",
      "links": {
        "google": "https://...",
        "apple": "https://...",
        "outlook": "https://...",
        "office365": "https://...",
        "yahoo": "https://...",
        "ics": "https://..."
      }
    }
    ```
4. 4### Receive RSVPs with a Webhook node (Business)

    Add a Webhook node with method POST and copy its production URL. In AddCal open API, then Webhooks, paste the URL and choose RSVP Created, RSVP Updated or Calendar Subscribed. Webhooks are a Business plan feature; creating events is not.

 Use cases

n8n and AddCal use cases
------------------------

### Booking confirmations

A form or booking tool triggers the workflow, AddCal creates the event, and the confirmation email carries the right link for the customer's calendar.

### Webinar pipelines

Create the AddCal event when the Zoom or Teams meeting is created, then reuse the same link in every reminder and the registration page.

### CRM-driven events

When a deal moves to a stage that needs a kickoff or renewal call, the workflow creates the event and writes the link back to the CRM record.

### RSVP routing

Each RSVP lands in the Webhook node, where it can be scored, tagged, added to a mailing list or posted to a channel without anyone exporting a CSV.

 Good to know

n8n integration limitations
----------------------------

### Self-hosted webhooks need a public HTTPS URL

AddCal rejects plain HTTP and private or local addresses, so an n8n instance on localhost or an internal IP never receives a delivery. Put it behind a public hostname with a valid certificate, or use an n8n Cloud webhook URL.

### A 410 from your workflow unsubscribes the webhook

Failed deliveries are retried three times with a 60 second backoff, but a 410 Gone response is treated as an unsubscribe and deactivates the webhook permanently. A paused workflow should answer 404 or 2xx, never 410.

### Deliveries are not signed

There is no signature header to verify, so treat the n8n webhook URL as a secret. n8n generates a long random path by default; add Header Auth on the Webhook node if you want a second layer.

 FAQ

n8n and AddCal, answered
------------------------

### Does the n8n integration need a paid plan?

Creating events through the API works on every plan, including Free, which allows 10 new events a month. Receiving webhooks in n8n is a Business plan feature, and if you downgrade the deliveries stop silently.

### Is there an AddCal node for n8n?

No, and you do not need one. The HTTP Request node covers the sending side and the Webhook node covers the receiving side; both ship with n8n Cloud and self-hosted.

### Do I need the API at all?

If the event details come from a form or a URL and you do not need the response back in the workflow, a Smart Link is simpler: build the URL in any node and open it, and identical parameters never create a duplicate.

### Are there rate limits?

Normal workflow volumes are fine. If you batch thousands of events, add a Wait node between calls.

### Which fields can I set on the event?

Beyond title, date_start and date_end: timezone, calendar_name or calendar_uid, description, location, is_all_day, has_rsvp, reminder_before in minutes, recurrence_rule as an RRULE string, organiser_name and organiser_email. The API documentation has the full list.
